AP: 4 Cops Injured in Firecracker Explosion At Challapalli Police Station

Krishna: At least 4 police personnel, including a Sub-Inspector, sustained injuries on Tuesday morning, after firecrackers, which were seized, exploded at the Challapalli Police Station in Avanigadda sub-division in the district of Andhra Pradesh. The explosion took place while police were transporting previously seized explosives to the court for disposal. The items had been stored in a shed within the police station premises. Speaking on the incident, a police officer said, "This morning, an unfortunate incident occurred at Challapalli Police Station. The seized explosives are stored in a shed within the station premises. While the items were being transported to the court for disposal, the accident happened." A constable sustained severe injuries in the blast, and a Sub Inspector and two other police personnel were also injured in the incident. All the injured were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Further details are awaited.
