Cuttack: Quick thinking and swift action by a GRP constable saved the life of a passenger who nearly fell between a moving train and platform at Cuttack railway station on Thursday morning.The incident captured on CCTV and now viral on social media took place at 8:05 am when Mohammed Mujahir (44), from Mirjapur, Uttar Dinajpur in West Bengal, attempted to board the moving Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Express.Constable Tulu Behera (38), on duty at platform no. 1, spotted Mujahir losing his balance while trying to board the train. As Mujahir began slipping into the dangerous gap between the platform and the train, Behera rushed forward, first grabbing the passenger's bag and then his arms, pulling him to safety."It all happened in a split second. I heard the sound of someone slipping and just acted instinctively. I'm glad I could save a life today," said Behera. After the rescue, Behera took the visibly shaken passenger to the police station. "He was trembling with fear. I offered him water and a place to sit until he calmed down," the constable added.Mujahir, who escaped unharmed, expressed profound gratitude to Behera and railway authorities for their timely intervention. "It's a second life for me," he said.GRP superintendent of police Vivekanand Sharma praised Behera's alertness and courage. "We are planning to officially recognise his act of bravery with a commendation. His exceptional courage and quick thinking under pressure prevented a major tragedy," Sharma said.
