To their colleagues, the interactions have taken on a whole new meaning since the duo's arrest in the Delhi terror attack.A former colleague of Shaheen, who spoke to TOI, said he saw Muzammil meet her on campus "a couple of times" in 2023. "No one could have guessed it would lead to this."Shaheen, an associate professor of pharmacology at Al-Falah, allegedly turned to jihad after reading extremist literature online. The ex-colleague described Shaheen as an approachable and cordial colleague who was always seen wearing a hijab and never spoke about her personal life.Shaheen had allegedly told her coworkers that she was divorced but never mentioned having children. Her ex-husband, Zafar Hayat, an ophthalmologist at KPM Hospital in Kanpur, earlier told TOI that he and Shaheen had an arranged marriage in 2003.
