Jodhpur forensic lab trying to identify bodies from bones | Jaipur News - The Times of India

Jodhpur: Regional Forensic Science Laboratory in Jodhpur is working round the clock to match DNA samples given by kin with those of the victims of the Jaisalmer bus fire tragedy.Principal of SN Medical College, BS Jodha, said two bodies have already been handed over to family members after identification, while four burn victims are battling for life on ventilators.Jodhpur in-charge minister Madan Dilawar arrived in Jodhpur Wednesday to check on the injured and meet relatives of the dead and injured. He also visited the forensic lab to understand the process of matching DNA samples. He instructed officials there to ensure that the DNA reports are provided at the earliest to the district administration, so that the deceased can be identified and their families provided with necessary assistance and relief as soon as possible.Minister of state (MoS) for industry and commerce, KK Vishnoi, said reports say the bus was violating traffic rules and had a mishap barely a week ago. Reports also suggest, he said, that the bus was registered at the RTO office in Chittorgarh as a non-AC bus, but the owner upgraded it to AC without informing officials.
