Telangana local body elections: SEC releases notification for MPTC, ZPTC elections

Hyderabad: The state election commission (SEC) issued a notification on Thursday to conduct phase-1 of the Mandal Praja Parishads (MPTCs) and Zilla Praja Parishad (ZPTC) elections across the state. As per the notification, nomination process will go on from October 9-11 while nominations will be scrutinized on October 12 and last day of withdrawal is October 15. Elections will be held in two phases - the first phase beginning on October 9 and second phase on October 13. Polling will be held on October 23 and 27 from 7 am to 5 pm. Votes will be counted on November 11. Phase 1 covers 292 ZPTC and 2,964 MPTC seats. The notification said that polls will be held all seats except 14 MPTCs in Mulugu district, according to court orders. The SEC released the local body election schedule on September 29 and said that the elections will be held in a total of five phases. MPTC and ZPTC will be held in the first two phases, while Gram Panchayat elections will be held in the remaining three phases.
