Rajkot: A talati-cum-mantri serving in the Lakhtar village panchayat in Surendranagar, Dharmesh Pedhadiya, and his alleged middleman, Raju Vasoya, were arrested for allegedly taking a Rs 3,000 bribe after a trap was laid by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday. K H Gohil, in-charge deputy superintendent of police with the Rajkot unit of the ACB, said that the complainant in this case owns two plots at Vadod village in Wadhwan taluka. He approached the talati to get some documents pertaining to his plots. Pedhadiya allegedly told him that the documents could only be got if he paid Rs 3,000 to one Raju Vasoya. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. The bureau acted on his complaint and set a trap. During the operation, Raju Vasoya was caught red-handed accepting the bribe while discussing the matter with the complainant. Pedhiya and Raju Vasoya were then arrested for bribery. The ACB said the duo colluded to demand and accept the illegal payment.
