A Delhi court on Wednesday (April 8, 2026) rejected a plea filed by the sub-contractor accused in the case pertaining to 25-year-old Kamal Dhyani, who died when his motorcycle fell into a pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board in Janakpuri on February 6. The accused, Rajesh Kumar, alleged that he was unlawfully detained by the police. The court stated that there was no reliable evidence on record to support his claim. Judicial Magistrate Harjot Singh Aujla dismissed the argument that the accused was taken into custody on February 6, a day before the police officially recorded his arrest. The court observed that evidence such as CCTV footage from the police station, arrest records, general diary entries, and call detail records indicated that the accused was not held illegally.
