New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) India has secured crude oil supplies for the next 60 days and maintains adequate inventory levels, with refineries operating at maximum capacity, the government said on Thursday, underlining that there is no shortage of key inputs and no increase in domestic fuel prices despite global volatility. Addressing a media briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said crude availability remains stable and sulphur supplies are sufficient. Retail fuel outlets across the country are functioning normally, she added. Sharma said the government has taken proactive steps to cushion consumers from global price fluctuations. "To keep prices stable, the Government of India has reduced excise duty, while a portion of the burden is also being absorbed by Oil Marketing Companies," she noted. She further assured that natural gas supply to domestic consumers remains fully secure, with availability maintained at 100 per cent. Separately, Aseem R Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf), said the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Gulf and West Asia, with the safety and welfare of Indian nationals as the top priority. A dedicated control room has been set up, while Indian missions and consulates in the region are operating round-the-clock helplines. These missions are actively engaging with community groups and issuing regular advisories in coordination with states and union Territories. Officials said missions are working with local authorities to address issues related to visas, consular services and transit support. Special attention is being given to students, with efforts underway to ensure that their academic schedules remain unaffected. Coordination is ongoing with schools, education boards and the National Testing Agency for examinations such as JEE and NEET. On maritime operations, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said all Indian seafarers in the West Asia region are safe, with no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels reported in the past 24 hours. A total of 18 Indian vessels, carrying 485 seafarers, continue to operate in the western Persian Gulf region. The Directorate General of Shipping is closely monitoring the situation through its 24x7 control room. The control room has facilitated the repatriation of more than 975 Indian seafarers so far, including 11 in the past 24 hours, officials said.
