Vadodara: Vadodara city and district have been receiving rain since Sunday night, with the rainfall largely concentrated in a few talukas while others saw negligible showers.Isolated drizzles on Sunday morning set the tone for the spell, but rain picked up across most parts of the city by evening. Restaurants and street food joints, usually crowded on Sunday nights, reported fewer customers as the weather turned wet.The scene on Monday morning resembled a typical monsoon day, as the city witnessed intermittent showers throughout the day. The rain, however, remained moderate and did not cause waterlogging or traffic disruptions.By Monday evening, Vadodara taluka, including the city and its outskirts, had received 20mm of rain, while Desar taluka recorded 28mm. Other talukas received less than 10mm, with Savli recording no rainfall.In Panchmahal district, Godhra taluka, including the town, recorded 52mm of rain till Monday evening. Shehra followed with 45mm, while Halol and Kalol registered 28mm and 20mm respectively. Morva (Hadaf), Ghoghamba, and Jambughoda talukas received only light showers.Most parts of Dahod district also experienced rainfall. Fatepura recorded 28mm, followed by Dahod and Garbada with 25mm each. Jhalod and Sanjeli received 18mm and 15mm respectively, while Singvad got 10mm. Limkheda, Devgadhbaria, and Dhanpur talukas saw negligible rain.Mahisagar district bore the brunt of the unseasonal downpour. Khanpur taluka recorded the highest rainfall at 60 mm, followed by Balasinor (51mm), Virpur (49mm), Kadana (48mm), and Lunawada (44mm). Santrampur received the least, at 34mm.In rural areas, farmers expressed concern over standing crops. In some regions, harvested produce lying in fields was exposed to rain, raising worries of potential damage.
Ahmedabad: Tuesday remained a sunny day with the city's maximum temperature reaching 35.6 degrees celsius, 1.9 degrees above normal. At 26.8 degrees, the minimum temperature was 0.6 degrees above normal. Elsewhere in the state, Kadana (Mahisagar) received 59mm of rainfall until 8pm, followed by 37mm in Vansda (Navsari), 29mm in Danta (Banaskantha), 21mm in Dharampur (Valsad), and 20mm in Lunawada (Mahisagar). Ahmedabad: A minor dispute over parking of vehicle escalated into a violent acid attack on a woman home guard in Chhatral area of Kalol taluka in Gandhinagar, on Friday morning.The accused, identified as autorickshaw driver Ashok Ravat, allegedly hurled toilet-cleaning acid at 38-year-old Bhavna Parmar after she asked him to move his vehicle to ease traffic near Chhatral overbridge.
