Ahmedabad: A minor dispute over parking of vehicle escalated into a violent acid attack on a woman home guard in Chhatral area of Kalol taluka in Gandhinagar, on Friday morning.The accused, identified as autorickshaw driver Ashok Ravat, allegedly hurled toilet-cleaning acid at 38-year-old Bhavna Parmar after she asked him to move his vehicle to ease traffic near Chhatral overbridge. He was arrested shortly after the attack, police said.Parmar was on traffic duty with her team when the incident occurred around 10 am. According to police, Ravat had earlier parked his autorickshaw in a way that disrupted traffic flow. When Bhavna and another home guard, Haresh Parmar, asked him to move the vehicle, he argued with them and left the spot angrily.As per the FIR filed at Kalol taluka police station, Ravat returned about 30 minutes later carrying a plastic bottle filled with a yellow liquid. "Without warning, he splashed the substance on Bhavna, causing burns to her scalp and back," said a police official. Another home guard, Nisha Senma, also suffered minor injuries while rushing to help her.Ravat attempted to flee but was caught with the help of bystanders and police personnel. Bhavna was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition.A case has been registered under Section 124 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid. Kalol police have begun an investigation."After being reprimanded over illegal parking, the auto driver returned with acid from his home and attacked the home guard," said Gandhinagar SP Ravi Teja Vasamsetty. "Fortunately, only a few drops landed on her, so the injuries were not severe."
