BBA student (23) dies, four others injured as car collides with truck | Noida News - The Times of India

Noida: A 23-year-old BBA student of a private university died while four of her classmates were injured when their car rammed into a truck near the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Greater Noida on Monday afternoon. Cops recovered beer bottles from the car and suspect the students were under the influence of alcohol. The crash occurred around 3.40pm near a dhaba in Rampur Fatehpur village. A team from the Dadri police station had rushed to the spot after receiving a call from passersby. Cops said the car was mangled by the impact of the collision. "With the help of passersby, we pulled the students from under the wreckage," a senior officer said. All five students were taken to Fortis Hospital, but Ishika, a second-year BBA student, died on the way. The others -- Anvi, Yugraj Singh, Harsh and Yash, all aged between 20 to 23 years -- remain under treatment with serious injuries. A video from the accident site shows the car reduced to twisted metal, while locals struggle to pry open the doors. Preliminary investigation suggests the car was speeding when it hit a slow-moving truck ahead. Police also said the possibility of the students being under the influence of alcohol cannot be ruled out. "We are verifying who was behind the wheel, but evidence indicates Ishika was seated in the front passenger seat at the time," the officer added. Ishika's body has been sent for autopsy.
