Jamshedpur: With five dengue cases detected on Thursday, the East Singhbhum district administration has gone on alert mode. On Friday, it issued detailed advisory asking residents to follow dos and donts. The district civil surgeon Dr Sahir Pall said that all the five cases reported are from the urban circle and measures have been taken to control the spread of the disease. Four cases have been reported from Chhota Govindpur and one case has been reported from Birsanagar. All five infected persons are undergoing treatment at two different private hospitals in the city and are under the observation of district surveillance officials. The district has reported a total of 13 dengue cases between January and July this year including the five latest cases. "All the hospitals and nursing homes have been asked to inform the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) office about any dengue positive case on the same day of admission," the civil surgeon said. Further, the health department in coordination with municipal bodies is carrying out cleanliness drive at the sites where cases have been reported. "Along with cleanliness, sprinkling of bleaching powder and fogging is being done in and around the site where cases have been reported," Dr Pall said.Meanwhile, the administration has advised people not to overlook the dengue and chikungunya symptoms and consult doctor on experiencing the signs of the two vector borne diseases. People can dial in 104 and get expert opinion/advice on matters related to vector borne diseases. Further, the people have been advised to follow the dos and donts to avoid contracting the disease.

New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi's public health department has launched an intensive drive to check mosquito breeding at historical sites and tourist places in the city.
