Panel to sort out e-challan complaints of transporters | Mumbai News - Times of India

Mumbai: State transport minister Pratap Sarnaik on Thursday announced the setting up of a committee to address concerns regarding e-challan implementation affecting transporters and tourist bus operators, who declared an indefinite strike beginning Jul 1. Following this, the associations called off the protest.Sarnaik said a dedicated committee will be established to examine these matters and deliver findings within a month. During discussions with senior officials and transport association delegates, Sarnaik emphasised that enhancements to the e-challan system should prioritise encouraging compliance rather than enforcing strict measures. He outlined several key points -- prevention of multiple penalties for identical violations on the same day, establishment of fine validity periods, and provision of parking spaces for commercial vehicles. -- Somit Sen
