Meghalaya registers 86.84 % success in SSLC exam, boys outperform girls

Shillong: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) recorded an overall pass percentage of 86.84% in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination held from Jan 30 to Feb 11. Results were declared on Tuesday.Of the 48,623 candidates who appeared, 42,228 passed. Boys registered a pass percentage of 94.14%, while 92.88% of girls cleared the exams. Last year, the pass percentage stood at 87.10%."The joint efforts of all stakeholders -- students, educators, district administration, education department, and parents -- have ensured the successful conduct of the examination," MBOSE said in a statement.Wangaal Lama of Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, Shillong, topped the merit list with 585 marks. Vishal Kumar of Embee Rosebud Higher Secondary School, Tura, secured second position with 576 marks.The third position was shared by Prajukta Roy of Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong, and Prinita Das of Pechon A Sangma Memorial Police Public Secondary School, Tura, both scoring 575 marks.Samdi Mukhim of St Anthony's Higher Secondary School, Shillong, Nathanael Mantre Laloo of Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong, and Wandarihun Lyngkhoi of Anderson Higher Secondary School, Nongstoin, shared the fourth position with 572 marks each.Jenita Pator of Sawlyngdoh Higher Secondary School, Mowkaiaw, secured the fifth position with 571 marks.West Jaintia Hills emerged as the best-performing district with a pass percentage of 94.99%, followed by South West Khasi Hills (94.60%) and East Khasi Hills (94.17%). East Garo Hills (72.33%), North Garo Hills (72.70%), and South West Garo Hills (74.54%) recorded the lowest pass percentages.In his message, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said, "Meghalaya govt remains committed to supporting every student in their journey towards a brighter and more successful future."
