NEW DELHI: The capital recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday, 2.8 notches above the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature in the city settled at 18.9 degrees Celsius. Despite the rising mercury, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by rain, lightning and gusty winds between April 3 and April 5. Rain activity is likely to begin on Friday night and continue intermittently over the next two days. However, officials said the showers are unlikely to bring any significant relief from the prevailing warm conditions.
