Delhi Weather Update: Delhi experienced dense fog on Thursday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting a minimum temperature of 7°C. The fog led to the implementation of low-visibility procedures at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), although flights continued to operate as scheduled. The weather forecast for the coming days indicates that dense fog will persist in the early morning and late-night hours on December 26 and 28. The IMD also predicts partly cloudy skies, with the possibility of very light rain or drizzle during the evening or night. As of Thursday morning, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded in the 'very poor' category, with an AQI reading of 372 at 8 am, slightly higher than Wednesday's 360. Several parts of the city, including Anand Vihar (372 AQI), Ashok Vihar (362 AQI), and Bawana (376 AQI), reported 'very poor' air quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI levels between 301 and 400 are categorized as 'very poor,' while levels above 400 are considered 'severe.' The air quality in Delhi continues to be a concern, with smog and moderate fog expected to affect most areas, especially in the morning. The forecast also indicates light winds from the northeast, with speeds under 4 km/h in the morning. Trains like the Avadh Assam Express, Unchahar Express, Vikramshila Express, Sampoorna Kranti Express, Shiv Ganga Express, and Duronto Express were among those affected by the fog-related delays. Due to the dense fog, IGI Airport implemented low-visibility procedures on Thursday. However, the airport confirmed that all flights were operating as scheduled. In a social media post, Delhi Airport stated: "Low Visibility Procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are presently normal." Passengers were advised to stay updated on flight schedules by contacting their airlines directly. Despite the poor air quality, the central government's air quality monitoring panel recently lifted the Stage IV ('Severe') measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) after a slight improvement in air quality.
