Chennai: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu to appoint Sandeep Rai Rathore, an IPS officer belonging to the 1992 batch, as the Director General of Police and Head of the State Police Force (HoPF) with immediate effect. An official communication from the ECI said that the officers posted out of their positions should not be assigned any election related work till the completion of polls.
