The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the order transferring Dr Sagar Preet Hooda from New Delhi to Chandigarh. Dr Sagar Preet Hooda was appointed as the director general of police (DGP) of the Union Territory of Chandigarh Tuesday. He is an Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1997 batch. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order transferring him from New Delhi to Chandigarh, effective immediately. Currently, IPS officer Pushpendra Singh is serving as officiating DGP, Chandigarh. Dr Hooda was serving as special commissioner (intelligence) in Delhi with additional charge of perception management and media cell division. On May 1, he was given two additional charges: Special CP of the Special Police Unit for Women and Children and Special Police Unit for the North-Eastern Region. He also got a Certificate in Public Finance (2012) from Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy. He did another course in Leadership and Globalisation from the London School of Economics in 2006. He did his PhD in Sociology from Panjab University from 1991 to 1997. Before that, he obtained his post-graduation in Sociology from Panjab University from 1989 to 1991. He is also a Chevening Scholar and a recipient of the prestigious Webber-Seavey Award. Dr Hooda has a proven track record in government administration and possesses skills in governance, conflict resolution, international relations, management, and policy analysis.
