Adampur remained coldest in plains as foggy conditions persist | Chandigarh News - The Times of India

Bathinda: Very dense to dense foggy conditions prevailed in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours. Adampur in Punjab and Bhopal in MP reported the average lowest minimum temperature over the plains in the country at 4.8°C, with low visibility. Bathinda witnessed a drop of 1.2°C in the last 24 hours, recorded as 0.6°C less than normal. The lowest minimum temperature in Haryana was recorded at Hisar at 5.7°C, which is 2.4°C less than normal. Due to dense fog, visibility was recorded at 20 m in Faridkot and 40 m in Bathinda in the morning hours, while it was recorded at 50 m in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to a western disturbance, light rainfall/snowfall is expected at a few/isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Dec 20 and 21. Minimum temperatures were below 5°C at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and in the range of 5°-10°C at many places over Punjab and Haryana. Minimum temperatures showed a rising tendency during the past 24 hours by 1-3°C at a few places over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. No significant change in minimum temperature is very likely over Northwest India during the next 3 days, with a gradual rise by 2-3°C thereafter during the subsequent 4 days.Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during the early hours/morning hours in isolated pockets of Punjab during Dec 17-20, Himachal Pradesh during December 17-19, and Haryana and Chandigarh during December 18 and 20. Compared to Monday, a fall of 0.1°C in the average minimum temperature was recorded until the morning on Tuesday in Punjab, and it was recorded above normal by 2.7°C in the state.
