NEW DELHI: The investigation into the alleged acid attack on a 19-year-old DU student has taken anew twist. Police have arrested the girl's father, Akil Khan, for allegedly sexually assaulting the wife of one of the suspects the girl claimed was stalking her."He (Akil Khan) confessed to fabricating the acid attack story because the woman had filed a complaint against him, and he wanted to implicate her husband in the acid attack case," the police said.Police revealed that two days before the alleged attack, the wife of the suspect made a PCR call accusing the girl's father of harassment and blackmail."She alleged that while working in his factory between 2021 and 2024, he sexually harassed her, forced physical relations, and blackmailed her with objectionable photos and videos. Sleuths also found that there is an old property dispute between the mother of the other two suspects and relatives of the girl's father.Moreover, police found several contradictions in the girl complainant's account and confirmed that none of the accused she named were present at the location at the time of the incident.Police suspect that the girl may have burnt her hands by using a toilet-cleaning liquid, but they are waiting for the medical report for confirmation.According to police, the alleged acid attack incident was reported at 10.52 am on Sunday, when the girl, on her way to college, claimed that three men attacked her with acid. She alleged that one of the attackers was stalking her for the past year. Thereafter, a case was registered. However, during the investigation, several inconsistencies surfaced in her version.
