Lucknow: Panic spread across Sheetalkheda and Eldeco areas on Rae Bareli Road on Friday after a stray dog bit three people within half an hour, including a three-year-old girl. Residents blamed the Lucknow Municipal Corporation for ignoring repeated complaints about growing menace of stray dogs.In the first attack, three-year-old Rakhi, visiting her maternal grandfather's house in Sheetalkheda, was bitten on the leg. Locals rushed to her rescue and chased the dog away after much effort. The child was taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.Minutes later, the same dog attacked Pradeep, resident of Eldeco apartment complex, followed by Arun Kumar, who was cycling in the area. Residents said the dog continued roaming the streets for some time and tried to attack more people before being driven away.Local resident Amit Srivastava said, "Eight to 10 dogs are being taken care of in one of the houses here. They're on the streets all day, barking at and biting people. We've complained several times, but no one from municipal corporation has done anything about it." Residents alleged that despite multiple incidents in recent weeks, no effective sterilisation or relocation drive was carried out. "About 20 days ago, two people were bitten by stray dogs in the same area. LMC was informed then, but nothing changed," said a resident.Municipal officials, however, claimed they were unaware of Friday's incident. "Children are scared of walking to school and women avoid going out alone. Administration needs to catch these dogs before something worse happens," said Ritu Srivastava, a resident.
