Many roads in the city were deserted, as students returned to their hometowns for the celebrations. Despite the rain for a brief time, people continued to burst the fireworks, undeterred by the wet conditions. After hours of festivities, a dense layer of smoke settled over the city, and heavy smog enveloped major roads, reducing visibility significantly.
