New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) The national capital's air quality index today continued to reel under the "very poor" quality, going up a few more notches compared to the previous day. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the Average AQI recorded today was 345, falling under the 'very poor' category. On Sunday evening, it had crossed the 300 mark. Amid the present scenario of the city's air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management in the national capital region and adjoining area (CAQM) anti-pollution measures under the Graded Response Action Plan's stage- II remain invoked to prevent the situation from worsening. The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) today, in its forecast, stated, "the air quality is likely to be in the Severe category from 21.10.2025 to 22.10.2025 in case of enhanced emissions from firecrackers. The air quality is very likely to be in the Very Poor category on 23.10.2025." As per the weather agency, it seems there are chances that the city's AQI may deteriorate further tomorrow. CAQM had yesterday invoked the GRAP-II measures along with the stage-I curbs as part of the pollution prevention plan. Measures to curb dust, like mist sprayers and others, were seen in several places to settle the dust particles. The CAQM is monitoring the situation and may take actions accordingly, in a bid to prevent the situation from worsening. Meanwhile, as per the GRAP-2, there are several restrictions put in place in terms of construction and demolition activities and disposal of waste and other things in the city. Under stage II of GRAP, CAQM has asked agencies concerned not to permit inter-state buses from NCR states, other than EVs, CNG, BS-6 Diesel, to enter Delhi, excluding buses and tempo travellers with an All India permit. The committee has also urged the public to prefer public transport and take less congested routes, to prevent congestion. The agencies responsible for implementing the orders have been asked to be strict regarding compliance, to ensure the GRAP is implemented without fail.
