Gurgaon: Sector 51 was the most polluted part of the city with its air quality plunging into the 'very poor' zone on Friday. The monitoring station there recorded an AQI of 342, the worst in the city. Gurgaon's overall air quality deteriorated slightly to 266, up from 260 the previous day.According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Vikas Sadan station reported an AQI of 212 and NISE Gwalpahari logged 238, both in the 'poor' range. The stark difference across neighbourhoods highlights growing pollution hotspots within the city, especially in residential and areas where large-scale realty projects are underway such as Sector 51, where thick dust clouds and traffic snarls are constant.Officials from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) said the main reason behind Gurgaon's worsening air is road dust from broken and unpaved stretches, particularly in sectors along the Dwarka Expressway and sectors 88, 90, 92 and 95.
