Lok Adalat reunites couple awaiting divorce | Jaipur News - The Times of India

Jaisalmer: A unique scene unfolded in Barmer district, where a couple that was living separately for two years, reunited with the help of National Lok Adalat held Saturday at the Barmer court premises.Champalal and Dhanwanti reconciled through mediation in the Lok Adalat, both parties openly expressed their views. With the court's assistance and counselling, they decided to forget their past grievances and live together once more.Not only did they put aside their differences, but they also exchanged garlands in court, promising to start afresh, which moved the onlookers. Their happiness was evident on their faces. The couple was living apart for the past two years and had applied for divorce in court.Lawyer Ganesh Kumar Meghwal explained that Dhanwanti and Champalal, residents of Tilak Nagar in Barmer, are husband and wife. They married in 2013, and their family life was good, with two children. However, minor disputes led to accusations and arguments, escalating to the point where they separated."Two years ago, Champalal approached me, saying their marital relationship deteriorated and they wanted a divorce. I advised them not to break up the family, but they were not willing to listen at the time," Meghwal said.The advocate stated that Champalal filed for divorce in 2024, which is still pending. Recently, Champalal visited me again, and I called his wife. After discussions, they agreed to reconcile, influenced by the Lok Adalat. The Lok Adalat provides quick and affordable justice, and today they reached an agreement. Champalal said, "We have cleared our misunderstandings and are starting anew." Dhanwanti also expressed gratitude to the court and mediators, calling it a new opportunity in life. The National Lok Adalat was organised across Rajasthan Saturday, aiming to resolve or settle pending old cases.
