New Delhi: In a shocking development in the case of missing bank manager, the body of the victim Abhishek Varun has been found in a well in Beur area of Patna in Bihar. The deceased bank manager's scooter was also recovered from the site. While the cause of death has not been ascertained yet, police are investigating the matter. Abhishek was a resident of the Kankarbagh area and was missing since the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. He was employed as an ICICI Lombard branch manager. According to a message circulated by his family, he accompanied them to a family function in Ramkrishna Nagar on Sunday evening. As night approached, he told his family to go back home while staying back at the venue himself. Media reports say when his wife called him to enquire about his coming to home, he told her that he was on the way. However, at 3 am, Abhishek called his wife and told her that he had met with an accident. After this, his mobile phone was reported to have been switched off and the family was not able to contact him again. The last location of Varun's phone was found to be in Beur which is around four kilometers away from where he was last seen, said a report in India TV. When he didn't return home the entire night, the family members grew concerned and decided to search for him in hospitals located around the area near the function venue. They also covered the area around the bypass in hopes of finding Varun, but to no avail. After their efforts did not yield any results, they decided to register an FIR at the Kankarbagh police station, prompting the cops to launch a missing person investigation. The police went to several hospitals to inquire about the victim and also examined the CCTV footage. Now that Abhishek's body has been found along with his scooter in a well, the police are probing the case from various angles.
