CHENNAI: National security advisor Ajit Doval on Friday challenged the foreign press "to show even one image" of the damage to the Indian side during Operation Sindoor. Speaking at the 62nd convocation of IIT Madras, Doval said: "We decided to have nine terrorist targets in the criss-cross of Pakistan; they were not in the border areas. We missed none. We hit nowhere else except that. It was precise to the point where we knew who was where. The entire operation took 23 minutes, starting five minutes past one and ending 28 minutes past one (on May 8)."The NSA said: "Foreign press said that Pakistan did this and that... The New York Times put out images and wrote things... You tell me one photograph, one image, which shows any damage to any Indian structure, even a glass pane being broken... Forces know the truth. The images only showed 13 air bases in Pakistan before and after May 10, whether it was in Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, or Chaklala. We are capable of doing that."Talking about the contactless warfare during Operation Sindoor, he said, "We are really proud of how much indigenous content was there, and some of the best systems were worked. Whether it was BrahMos, integrated air control and command systems, radars, and battlefield surveillance, among others."Indirectly referring to the Galwan attack by the Chinese army on Indian troops, Doval said, "Something happened in 2020, and it was a slightly bad experience, and we had a little fight. Certain decisions were taken, and one of them was indigenising our communication systems. We decided not to import 5G technology from anywhere. It was necessary for our data protection, communication, and security reasons.""At the same time, the country could not afford to lose the technology battle and remain behind. The Chinese took over 12 years and spent about 300 billion dollars developing 5G. We neither had that sort of time nor even that sort of money. We had a talk with Kamakoti (presently IIT Madras Director). In two and a half years, we are having a completely indigenous communication system. Today, even the screw comes from a trusted source - it's either made in India or by somebody close to India," he further said.Referring to historical wars, Ajit Doval said the link between warfare and technology was very, very important. Calling artificial intelligence great game changers, the NSA said, "AI is going to change the world every year, and it will become unrecognisable. Quantum computing is another area. It will make classic computing much less relevant."He also called on graduating IIT engineers to make India great by 2047 in military, economy, and science and technology. As many as 3,227 students, including 529 PhD students and 820 BTech students, graduated at the convocation. Renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam also participated in the convocation and handed over admission letters to six students who have joined under the cultural quota.B S Anirudh received the President of India Prize and the M Visvesvaraya Memorial Prize for the highest CGPA amongst BTech and dual degree students.
