Noida: Seven miscreants were arrested in two separate gunfights within 24 hours.According to Sudhir Kumar, ADC Greater Noida, officials were conducting checks on the roads. Upon signalling two men on a motorcycle to stop, they tried to flee. When cops chased them, the miscreants opened fire. Both were injured by bullets in the retaliatory action by the police team and were arrested.Cops recovered two illegal pistols with cartridges, a motorcycle and a stolen mobile phone from their possession. The injured suspects were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said ADCP Kumar.The suspects, Pankaj (34) and Satyaveer (23) of the Kasna area, were involved in a theft of equipment from an under-construction powerhouse that took place on the intervening night of June 25 and 26. According to police, a case under section 303(2) (theft) of the BNS was registered at the Dankaur police station. In another case, five men were arrested by Sector 39 police after a gunfight. According to ADCP Noida Sumit Shukla, officials were conducting checks at Sardarpur Chowki when they came in two different cars. The vehicles were signalled to stop for checking, but the suspects attempted to flee towards Sector 42. When the police team chased them, the miscreants abandoned the cars and started running towards the forest while firing at the police. In retaliation, one of the suspects suffered injuries. He was identified as Sumit, alias Billa, a native of Bihar. Also, an illegal pistol with cartridges was recovered from his possession.Later during combing, the four suspects - Anup Pal, alias Chikna; Praveen, alias Shooter; Kovind; and Shahnawas, alias Nannu, all residents of Delhi - were nabbed. Police seized the vehicles and recovered two iron cutting saws, a rope with an iron hook, four bundles of cable, and two packets of cable rubber from their possession. The recovered cable is connected to a case under BNS 303 (2) registered at Sector 39 police station. The injured was taken to the hospital for treatment.
