Palakkad: A 10-year-old boy, a close relative of the woman who tested positive for Nipah virus in Palakkad, Kerala, has been admitted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital after developing a high fever on Friday night, officials said. The boy's mother and a four-month-old infant have also been hospitalised as a precautionary measure. All three individuals are listed as primary contacts of the confirmed Nipah case. The National Institute of Virology in Pune on Friday officially confirmed Nipah infection for the 38-year-old woman who was under treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna for symptoms consistent with the virus.
