"We're aiming to complete DNA testing within 48 hours so that families can claim the bodies at the earliest," she said.So far, 14 bodies have been identified, with 10 handed over to their families and transported via ambulances to Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and other states. The remaining four will be released once formalities are done. For victims who remain unidentified due to extent of burn injuries, forensic teams are collecting sternum bone or muscle tissue samples as needed. "These samples are preserved in formalin and sent to Red Hills, where a forensic team is working round the clock," said Dr Srinivas Reddy, hospital superintendent. An under-construction centre of excellence building has been also converted into a makeshift morgue.Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has hampered rescue and medical operations. To manage this, a centralised blood collection point has been set up at the hospital. "Seven samples were collected on-site on Monday night despite the rain; the remaining were brought in Tuesday," Dr Reddy added.
