New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested two individuals for allegedly kidnapping a 4-year-old girl in the Sangam Vihar area of south Delhi.The accused, identified as Nasreen (42) and Rama Shankar, worked together as painters in the locality.Police received a complaint on June 29 from the girl's father, Naveen Rana, who reported that his daughter had gone to a nearby store around 6 pm to buy chips and toffees but did not return. According to police, the complainant had searched for his daughter around his locality in Sangam Vihar but made the call when he could not find her.A kidnapping case was registered under Section 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Neb Sarai police station. Police formed a team to further investigate the case.DCP (south) Ankit Chauhan said, "A team reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas including Church Colony, Shani Bazar Road, Bandh Road, Tigri Road, and Sangam Vihar Road. Surveillance revealed the girl was kidnapped by two individuals. Police shared images from the footage with locals, leading to the identification of Rama Shankar, who later disclosed Nasreen's location."The girl was rescued from Nasreen's home in Tughlakabad village, about 8 km from the abduction site. During interrogation, Nasreen claimed she found the child wandering alone and decided to keep her as she didn't have a daughter. Instead of informing authorities, she took the child home.
