New Delhi: Air India's Tokyo-Delhi flight A-I357 had to be diverted to Kolkata on the evening of 29 June as a precaution due to the constantly rising temperature in the cabin. The plane landed safely in Kolkata and technicians started investigating it. Air India said in a statement that our ground colleagues in Kolkata are providing all necessary assistance to the passengers to minimize the inconvenience caused by this unexpected diversion. Air India said that alternative arrangements are being made to transport the passengers of flight A-I357 to Delhi as soon as possible. The airline company apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. This flight took off from Tokyo's Haneda International Airport and was to land at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Earlier in a similar incident on June 23, 11 passengers including six crew members on Air India's London-Mumbai flight (AI130) complained of nausea and dizziness. Due to low cabin air pressure, the plane had to be brought to a safe altitude and some people were given medical treatment. According to aviation experts, low air pressure in the cabin is very rare, but sometimes it can happen due to technical fault. In such a situation, oxygen masks are dropped to help passengers breathe at high altitude, where oxygen levels are low.
