New Delhi: The southwest monsoon did not reach the city even on Friday, June 27, which is the normal date of its arrival in Delhi. The weather department now expects the monsoon to arrive in Delhi and cover a small area of northwest India within the next two-three days.The Met had forecast the early arrival of the monsoon in Delhi. However, all that the city is getting is drizzling or trace-level rain, too low to be recorded in patches. The city didn't receive any rain on Friday.According to India Meteorological Department, the northern limit of the monsoon continues to pass through parts of Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. An anti-cyclonic circulation is barring it from entering Delhi and the surrounding areas of National Capital Region, officials earlier explained. "Conditions are becoming favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon over the remaining parts of the country during the next two-three days," IMD stated.The southwest monsoon has covered most parts of the country, barring parts of northwest India, including Delhi, parts of west Rajasthan, south Haryana and parts of west UP.Delhi experienced a humid Thursday with a heat index or 'feel-like' temperature of 48.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature at base station Safdarjung was 39.1 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, against 38 degrees a day earlier. The humidity oscillated between 54% and 81%.The maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to be 35-37 degrees Celsius, with the Met issuing a yellow alert for Saturday and Sunday, expecting rain and thunderstorms.The air quality remained satisfactory again, with AQI, on a scale of 0 to 500, at 76 against 95 a day earlier.
