Video: Punjab gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's mother shot dead in Batala, Bambiha gang takes responsibility

Gurdaspur: Jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria's mother, Harjit Kaur, was shot dead by some bike-borne miscreants in Batala area of Punjab's Gurdaspur on Thursday night. Besides gangster's mother, his aide Karanvir was also killed by the unidentified attackers, officials said on Friday. According to the police, three people were involved in the attack and they are presently on run. The Bhambia gang has claimed responsibility for the attack. Bhagwanpuria's gang is said to be a rival of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Two notorious gangsters of Haryana - Prabhu Dasuwal and Kaushal Chaudhary - took responsibility for the murder of Bhagwanpuria's mother on social media. Both of them are associated with the Bambiha gang. The accused allegedly opened fire at Bhagwanpuria's mother and his aide around 9.30 pm on Thursday, when they were sitting in a car. Harjit Kaur was rushed to a hospital in Amritsar with multiple bullets wounds. However, she succumbed to her injuries. Karanvir was taken to Batala Civil Hospital but the doctors declared him dead upon arrival, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Batala, Paramveer Singh said. The DSP said that the miscreants fled the spot following the incident and efforts are on to nab them. A video of the incident has also surfaced in which three bike-borne people can be seen going near a car parked on the roadside and starting firing at the car. The accused fired several rounds at the car and later fled the spot after the incident. Jaggu Bhagwanpuria was in March detained under the PIT-NDPS Act and shifted from central jail in Bathinda to Assam's Silchar jail. He was already in the custody of Punjab Police in the 2022 Sidhu Moosewala murder case. Besides, he faces several other criminal cases.
