New Delhi: The police in Maharashtra have arrested six people, including the team leader, after receiving alleged sexual harassment complaint from women employees at a multi-national company in Nashik. Police register cases against accused The police on Wednesday that they have registered nine cases against them on charges of sexual harassment and hurting religious sentiments which took place for four years. One of the accused allegedly gave false promise of marriage to an employee and repeatedly engaged in a physical relationship with her. Also, the accused touched an employee inappropriately and made distasteful remarks about her personal and marital life. What happened when victims complained? The police said in a statement, "When the complainant repeatedly lodged verbal complaints regarding these incidents with the company's head officer, he failed to take cognizance of her complaints regarding the molestation; instead, he effectively abetted their actions." Also, one of the male employees was forced to perform Namaz. Moreover, they allegedly made obscene remarks about her physical appearance. The police on Wednesday produced five of the arrested accused in a local court, and the court remanded them in police custody till April 10. One of the accused has been sent to judicial custody. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by ACP (Crime) Sandeep Mitke is conducting the investigation on the instructions of police commissioner Sandeep Karnik.
