Shillong: The search operation for 27-year-old Indore tourist Sonam Raghuvanshi continued in Meghalaya's inclement weather on Thursday, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams actively involved. The Meghalaya govt too deployed drones and special teams to locate her.Sonam and her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, a newly-married couple from Indore, went missing, while on their honeymoon trip to Sohra (Cherrapunjee). Tragically, Raja Raghuvanshi's body was later recovered from a gorge. CM Conrad Sangma has assured that the state govt will "leave no stone unturned" to bring the perpetrators to justice. An investigation into his murder has been underway, with the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) and recovery of a suspected weapon recovered.Meanwhile, Sonam's brother Govind and cousin Kiran Mule, who are present in Sohra, expressed their strong belief that Sonam was still alive. They highlighted the lack of clues, such as her phone or bag, being found by the search teams as a reason to suspect kidnapping. "It has been many days and the search team has not got any clue. The rescuers have not yet found her phone or bag. So, this is kidnapping. We will be here, until we find Sonam," one of them said, appealing to the police and rescue teams to persist in tracking her alive.Meghalaya Police have recovered a black raincoat near a viewpoint during the search, which bears visible stains. Forensic analysis is pending to determine the nature of these stains, and if the coat belongs to Sonam.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said the Karnataka government and the Centre should resolve the issue in connection with the release of financial assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to the state for drought management.
