Sikandar ka Muqaddar Controversy: A scene capturing the flamingos in the recently released Netflix movie has stirred a new row among environmentalists. As per a Free Press Journal report, the greens have alleged that the flamingo shot was captured from a close angle purportedly via a drone. The complaint was made to the Mangrove Cell with a request to take the issue in cognizance legally with the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner, NRI Coastal police station and CIDCO. A part of the NatConnect Foundation's complaint stated that during the timeline 1:03:44 to 1:03:54 in the movie, a shot captured at TS Chanakya by a drone was shown where the device might have flown over the flamingos resting on the wetland and mudflat. BN Kumar, Director of the Foundation said, "We have no objection whatsoever to the featuring the beauty of flamingos in the movie, but the use of drones flying over the resting birds is certainly objectionable." According to him, drones with sharp blades create a whirring noise which can easily disturb the resting birds. "The flamingos could get grievously injured or even killed if they come in contact with the flying machines," Kumar added. Flamingos are part of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) red list of near-threaded vulnerable species. The conservation organizations have been advocating for the protection of flamingos and their habitats as a component of the city's biodiversity, which is under threat. The State government has established a high-level committee to investigate and provide recommendations for conserving the DPS Flamingo Lake, a vital flamingo habitat. The report from the committee is currently pending.
