News Live: Punjab sends 14 IPS officers panel to UPSC for selection of regular DGP The Punjab government has forwarded a list of 14 senior IPS officers to the Union Public Service Commission for shortlisting candidates for the state's Director General of Police post, sources told PTI. Currently, Gaurav Yadav is serving as acting DGP. His name figures among the officers sent, along with Sharad Satya Chauhan, Kuldeep Singh and Harpreet Singh Sidhu, among others holding senior ranks. The move comes weeks after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann indicated that a panel would be submitted for appointing a regular police chief. Punjab had earlier delayed sending such names despite repeated reminders. In February, the Supreme Court criticised states, including Punjab, over the continuation of acting DGPs. As per procedure, the UPSC will return a shortlist of three officers for final selection. Earlier in the day, Sharad Satya Chauhan was appointed Special DGP-cum-Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, sources added.
