Punjab CM Mann announces recruitment drive in health, education departments

Patiala (Punjab), Dec 3 (PTI) The Punjab government will launch a massive recruitment drive in the health and the education departments, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Tuesday and added that his dispensation had already provided about 50,000 jobs. Addressing a gathering while handing over appointment letters to new recruits, Mann said the state government was committed to provide ample opportunities for youngsters to excel. So far, around 50,000 government jobs have been provided to them, he said. Further new avenues will be opened for the youngsters to ensure that they become an active partner in the state's socio-economic growth, Mann said. Apart from providing new jobs, the government is also exploring the feasibility of adjusting the youngsters who have passed the maximum age while agitating for jobs, the chief minister said. Mann told the youngsters that there was no shortcut for success and added that hard work was the only key to triumph. He reiterated the state government's commitment to ensure the youngsters' wellbeing and opening new vistas of employment for them. Mann said it was a matter of pride for him that around 50,000 youngsters had been selected for government jobs, purely based on merit. The chief minister expressed hope that the new recruits would help the needy and ensure maximum welfare of the public so that every section of society could benefit. Mann also reiterated the government's commitment to ensure Punjab emerges as a medical education hub. Work is underway for construction of medical colleges in SAS Nagar (Mohali), Kapurthala, Sangrur, Hoshiarpur and Malerkotla. These medical colleges and hospitals are aimed at making the state a hub of medical education, he said. The state government is also opening centres to train students for competitive exams, he added.
