Odisha receives World Athletics flag for indoor championships 2028

Bhubaneswar: Sports and youth services minister Suryavanshi Suraj on Saturday presented the ceremonial World Athletics flag to chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Kalinga Stadium, marking Odisha's readiness to host the indoor championships in Bhubaneswar in 2028.The flag was earlier handed over to Ravinder Choudhry of the Athletics Federation of India and sports secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia in Poland, symbolising the formal transfer of hosting responsibilities to India.The chief minister said the moment represented a lasting legacy for the state. "It reflects our ambition, pride and promise to deliver a world-class championship," he said.The hosting rights were formally announced in Poland by World Athletics president Sebastian Coe.
