Hyderabad: Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V C Sajjanar on Thursday, April 2, warned against food adulteration and said it poses health risks. Sajjanar addressed a meeting with food business owners and said that 92 cases have been filed against 98 people in Hyderabad for indulging in food adulteration, and 62 tons of adulterated food were seized. Food traders were asked to maintain the quality standards and ensure they possess valid licenses. He also requested citizens to report food adulteration incidents immediately. The commissioner advised business operators to act as responsible citizens and to not to make compromises in the quality of food products. He also took the opportunity to remind the gathering that the Telangana government is sincerely committed to achieving an adulteration-free state. He stressed that every business operator is responsible for upholding the global reputation that Hyderabad has gained. Sajjanar mandated that every food business operator must possess a valid FSSAI license and urged them to immediately inform the police if they receive any information regarding instances of adulteration occurring anywhere. He assured that those who conduct business honestly would receive full support from both the Police Department and the government. He expressed his hope that everyone would become a partner in building a healthy Hyderabad. When business representatives brought to the CP's attention certain issues they were facing at the ground level, he gave an assurance that these matters would be resolved. Appreciating the initiative taken by the police, the business community pledged to extend their full cooperation in curbing adulteration.
