Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday accused the Election Commission of working in favour of the BJP in states where elections are currently underway, including West Bengal and Assam. Addressing the media at the party headquarters, he claimed that several senior officers ,including the Director General of Police, had been removed in West Bengal, a scale of action he said was not seen during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Yadav alleged that despite complaints of irregularities during by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, no action has been taken against officials involved. He said neither the Election Commission nor the state government had acted on these issues so far. Targeting the BJP ahead of upcoming political battles, Yadav said that after elections conclude in West Bengal and Assam, BJP leaders will shift their focus to Uttar Pradesh.
