Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi attended the state-level function organized at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the 91st Odisha Divas. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that 90 years ago, Odisha emerged as the first linguistic state of independent India due to the relentless struggle of great personalities. He described today as the day of the identity, self-respect and pride of the people of Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi highlighted the inspiring journey of the Odia language from facing the insult of being called "not a single language" to its recognition as a 'classical language' today. He recalled that starting from the bravery of the Paika Rebellion to achieving an independent state, every struggle has taught the people of Odisha to live with pride and determination. "This inspiration and determination are the soul of our nation, which it is the moral responsibility of all of us to protect and carry forward. Today is not just a celebration, but a day to take a pledge to build a prosperous Odisha by remembering those golden pages of our history," he said. The Chief Minister made it clear that the government's goal is very clear -- a prosperous Odisha by 2036. He cited the Odisha Police being awarded the President's Police Colours and the inauguration of a new Visa Centre in Bhubaneswar as proof of the state's growing strength. He also spoke about the government's priority on ensuring financial independence of mothers through the Subhadra scheme and education of girls through the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangal scheme. The government is laying special emphasis on infrastructure, industrialization and social security. "Projects like the Namo Expressway and Atal Expressway will establish Odisha as the growth engine of developed India in the coming days. With the immense blessings of Lord Jagannath and your unwavering support, we will establish Odisha as the economic soul centre of Eastern India," Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said.
