Kalaburagi/ Hosapete (Vijayanagara): A tragic road accident claimed lives of five members of a family, when a KKRTC bus collided with their motorcycle near the Krishna bridge at Tinthani cross in Surpur taluk, Yadagir district on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased are Anjaneya (35) a daily wage labourer, his wife Gangamma (28), their one-year-old son Hanumappa, and their niece and nephew Pavithra (5) and Rayappa (3). The family was from Hallisagar village in Shahapur taluk. The incident occurred when the family was travelling to Lingasugur from their village, when a KKRTC bus, enroute Shahapur from Lingasugur, collided head-on, with their motorcycle. Three of them died instantly at the accident spot, while Pavithra and Rayappa, succumbed to their injuries while being taken to the hospital. Surpur police have initiated an investigation. Driver dies as truck hits toll plaza The driver of a truck was killed after his vehicle collided against Thimmalapura toll plaza on NH-50 near Mariammanahalli on Wednesday evening. The identity of the deceased driver is yet to be known. The accident happened when the speeding truck was travelling from Maharashtra towards Chitradurga. It overturned after hitting a stationary pickup vehicle carrying pomegranates. The co-driver sustained serious injuries, police sources said.
