Mumbai, March 31: At least 28 ships carrying critical energy supplies for India remain stranded in the Persian Gulf as the conflict in West Asia continues to paralyse the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, the stranded fleet consists of 18 Indian-flagged vessels and 10 foreign-flagged ships, all carrying essential cargoes of crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry, confirmed during a media briefing that the government's immediate priority is the safe passage of these vessels through the high-risk zone. Currently, 485 seafarers are on board the 18 Indian-flagged ships anchored west of the strait. While the situation remains tense, officials noted that no incidents involving Indian vessels have been reported in the last 72 hours.
