Ahmedabad: Bodies of a man and a woman were found at two locations of the Narmada main canal near Viramgam on Wednesday, triggering a police investigation into the circumstances of their deaths.Police said the body of an unidentified man was first spotted in the Saurashtra main canal near a nursery on the outskirts of Viramgam town. Fire personnel from the Viramgam municipality were alerted, and the body was retrieved from the canal.A few hours later, the body of an unidentified woman was found in a siphon of the canal near Nana Haripura village in the Viramgam rural area. Municipal fire team members used ropes to pull the body out of the siphon, police said.Upon receiving information, teams from Viramgam town police and rural police reached the sites and began a preliminary inquiry. Both bodies were sent to the Viramgam govt hospital for postmortem examination.Police said efforts are ongoing to establish the identities of the deceased and determine whether the deaths are linked. "At this stage, we cannot say how they entered the canal or when the deaths occurred. Postmortem reports will help ascertain the cause of death," a police official said.
