Kanpur: A massive fire gutted the Irrigation Department's Lower Ganga Canal Block, Etawah Division office on Sunday, reducing the entire building and nearly five decades of departmental records to ashes before fire brigade teams could bring the blaze under control.While officials cited a possible short circuit as the cause, a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason.The office was closed on Sunday and the fire came to light early Monday morning when residents noticed smoke and flames rising from the premises.
