Hyderabad: Telangana high court will continue hearing on Tuesday a petition filed by C Vinay Kumar, challenging Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) preliminary notification for ward delimitation. Justice B Vijaysen Reddy, who heard the matter on Monday, while prima facie observing that the contentions raised by the petitioner will be rejected, posted it to Tuesday for further hearing,The petitioner, a resident of Chikkadpally, objected to the proposed merger of certain houses from the existing Ramnagar division (now proposed as Bagh Lingampally division-164) with the Adikmet division-163. He contends that this "new boundary is arbitrary as it ignores natural and historically present demarcations, including a 30-foot nala (drain) and a 100-foot major road that should serve as the clear dividing line between the areas. He claims that GHMC ignored his formal objections submitted on Dec 12, 2025."This is only a political drama. Not done scientifically. A 30-foot nala and a 100-foot public road, which should have been considered for demarcation, were ignored," he argued. He further alleged that the proposed changes would cause significant public inconvenience by forcing residents, including Non-Resident Indians, to undertake the cumbersome process of changing door numbers and updating official documents. This disruption could affect property tax assessments, confuse emergency services, and potentially divert local development funds. The petition also challenged the proposed renaming of the division from Ramnagar to Bagh Lingampally, claiming that the change would cause confusion and harm community harmony.
