Mumbai: Water supply to some areas under wards such as S, L, K-East, H-East and G-North will be cut for 30 hours from 11 am on Feb 5 to 5 pm on Feb 6 for the commissioning of a new 2,400 mm diameter water pipe. The work of laying a new 2,400 mm diameter aqueduct was completed between Powai anchor block and Maroshi tunnel shaft. Two water pipelines of 1,800 mm diameter at Tansa East and Tansa West will be discarded, and a new 2,400 mm diameter pipeline, which will replace the two pipelines, will be commissioned. The BMC appealed to citizens of thes affected areas to store water as required ahead of the supply shutdown and use water sparingly during the period. There is a possibility of muddy water being supplied for a few days after the pipeline commissioning work. As a precautionary measure, citizens have been advised to filter and boil the water before drinking it.
