Amritsar: The district administration will prepare a location-wise list of the statues of Dr B R Ambedkar installed in the district and make suitable security arrangements. This assurance was given by deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney to a delegation of the community leaders that met her on Tuesday. She also announced the installation of a statue of Ambedkar at the District Administrative Complex on the demand of community leaders. Emphasising the importance of educating students about the Indian Constitution and the life and philosophy of Dr Ambedkar, she expressed hope that the new generation would learn about his struggle and constructive thinking. She further stated that statues situated along heritage routes would be covered with tough glass to prevent future incidents and to rule out the possibility of vandalism. During the meeting, police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that a detailed investigation was under way following the filing of a police case against the alleged culprit. A team is working on uncovering the entire conspiracy using the suspect's mobile phone, he said. He also assured that anyone involved in this plot would be brought before the public and would face strict legal action. Meanwhile, various leaders visited the statue of Ambedkar statue at Heritage Street that was vandalised on Republic Day to pay their obeisance.
